What is a Traveling Tattoo Truck Anyway?

The Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo truck is the brain-child of world renowned tattoo artist Jeff Goyette. Jeff started his tattooing career in Massachusetts almost 22 years ago where it was illegal to have a tattoo shop. Because of this, he signed on with the Alliance of Professional Tattooers and traveled all over the US with the tattoo tour.

The studio in Portsmouth, the home of Inflicting Ink Tattoo Studio as well as the Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo truck, was opened by Jeff as a way to combat the work involved in traveling, but the road was always in his blood.

Looking for a way to combine his love for travel, with a home-base stability, the idea for the truck came to him one night in a sudden burst of creative energy where he realized, if he could imagine it, he could build it.

It took him and his son 10 months to build it. The 78.5 foot mobile studio has 3 state of the art tattoo stations housed in a large motor-home trailer. A sterile facility with air conditioning, heat, filtration systems, built in television and video cameras, the truck originally traveled to the homes of folks who would write in with a special request for a tattoo. Two winners a month were selected, and the truck would go and tattoo them for free. In addition to this, the tattoo truck now attends various charity and entertainment events across the United States, usually donating a portion or all of the proceeds to charity.

Finally, the Inflicting Ink Traveling Tattoo truck films all of its travels and adventures, as part of an ongoing reality show to be aired in 2011 which will feature the dynamic between Jeff and his son Corey, also an accomplished tattoo artist who travels with his Dad, as well as provide an educational background on this largely misunderstood art form and the people that appreciate it.
